Twenty years ago, Phillip McMahon’s debut play premiered in PoD nightclub as part of Dublin Fringe Festival and it set the town alight. From that, THISISPOPBABY was born

On Culture Night 18th September 2026 twenty years to the day since the play was first performed, we gathered in the Pop Baby studio’s with a small group of friends for a reading of Danny & Chantelle (Still Here)

It felt like a gorgeous full-circle moment. To sit together, read the play again, and remember the spark that started it all.

The event was a salute to the original popbabies - Phillip McMahon, Jenny Jennings, Georgina McKevitt, Deirdre Molloy, Sarah Jane Shiels, Louise Kiely, Cian O’Brien, Sally Foran and Nik Quaife - and to everyone who has been part of the wild ride since

It was so lovely to welcome people to our new home in the city centre, generously supported by StayCity.
