WERK Issue 2 went off like a firecracker. The tickets sold out before we had a chance to hang any posters and the atmosphere was electric. YOU ARE NOT A ROBOT inspired our artists on the night to show us they can bleed, and bleed they did. There were bleeding hearts and some that were just too bleeding funny (see what I did there?!). Anyhoo...it was hit!
In a late-night haze of neon and performance, live art and discotheque, the belly of the Abbey Theatre is being put to WERK. Underground club and performance roulette - this new monthly cocktail of ideas is an epic night out in the making. Irreverent, bold and trashy; WERK is the house of outrageous investigation, abnormal talent and unnatural beauty. It’s a party. Clock in – WERK out.
Artists and performers included, Neil Watkins, Fionn Kidney, Ciaran O'Melia, Adam Matthews, Adrian Shane, Megan Kennedy, Eddie Kay, Jessica Kennedy & Band, Veronica Dyas, Randolf SD, Simon Boyle & Alma Kelliher, Dave Lorden, THEATREclub, Karen Egan & Band, The Pulpit, WhiteNoise & Will Dempsey playing records.
Photo's of the night are courtesy of Peter Fingleton and www.SharpShock.com. Our gorgeous posters are dreamt up by Niall Sweeney at Pony Ltd. London and our matters regarding the press are expertly handled by Nik Quaife at Zoetrope.
Phillip: Despite being in post surgery agony, I had a ball at WERK 2. There were so many highlights, but I think the photos sum the whole thing up. Warm, irreverent, boozy and fun. It was a magic night.
