Danny and Chantelle (still here) by Phillip McMahon, was first performed as part of the Dublin Fringe Festival 2006, where it was awarded the coveted Spirit of the Fringe Award. It went on to play a sell out run at Project Arts Centre, Dublin in March 2007 and again at the Drogheda Arts Festival in May 2007.
Danny and Chantelle are still here. They have left where they are to go where they are going. A place where you can get off your head and forget for a while. The night, like most nights, gets carried away with itself - the city is on fire and all bets are off.
Danny and Chantelle. Joined at the hip. Joined at the hoop. All joined up and tangled. Still here.
"There is a liveliness and topicality here that has been lacking from much recent Irish theatre: McMahon and his collaborators are talents to watch." - The Guardian
"A story itching to be told." - Irish Theatre Magazine
Phillip: This is where it all began. When we staged this first, we had no idea if it was good or if people would come. We just staged it on the dancefloor at POD and hoped that punter's other than our parents would come...and they did! It was a magic month.
Jenny: The whole philosophy of the company really came from this play. Uncompromising writing, acting, directing and design told in a way that speaks to a much broader audience than dedicated theatre-goers. It packed out the houses...and secured a firm place in all of our hearts.
