First staged in 2007, this all new production of All Over Town was a massive success for co-producers Calipo & THISISPOPBABY.
Commissioned by Calipo Theatre & Picture Co., Phillip McMahon wrote All Over Town in 2007 and reworked the whole script for this 2009 production which played as part of Queer Notions at the Project Arts Centre, Dublin June 22 - 27th.
"Life isn't about finding yourself. It's about creating yourself.”
Just ask Seán. He's swapping the grey of Dublin for the neon of Bangkok and the bright lights of Sydney. His agenda? Fun, beer and sex: in no particular order. He just wants out of Ireland and away from his family and friends... but everything comes at a price.
All Over Town is a dark and comic odyssey that follows one young gay man’s journey to discover himself, whatever the cost. Playwright Phillip McMahon (Director of Panti, All Dolled Up) and director Tom Creed (Associate Director, Rough Magic) bring you a smart and sexy new production that takes you to the other side of the world.
"McMahon is clearly a romantic in a world of cynics...warm, wry and touching."
- The Irish Times
Jenny: This story is very close to my heart. A very modern coming of age story for the backpacking generation... Sexy, vulnerable, raw, gentle - it's all these things, and very funny to boot.
Phillip: An amazing chance to have a second go at the difficult second album. A bit of space from the original script gave me fresh eyes on this story, and the character Sean emerged stronger, ballsier and a much more of a loveable brat. Very happy with this one.
