PHILIP JUDGE
ACTOR
First and foremost Mark O'Halloran has written a wonderful play.
Powerful, rich, harsh, poetic, funny and deeply moving. I relish it. Rehearsals have been completely absorbing: emotionally demanding and intellectually probing.
Tom Creed is direceting with a sure, easy hand - illuminating, encouraging and focused.
Ciaran McCabe, though young and inexperienced in theatre, is approcahing his role with a natural, true instinct.
Lucie Ryan Donnelly is stage-managing with calm, quiet efficiency: patiently assisting with line-learning; supplying props, magically it seems, only moments after they have been suggested or requested; and, possibly most importantly, maintaining an endless and varied stock of biscuits.
I look forward to getting into the performance space to see Ciaran O'Melia's design. I am expecting a mixture of the sublime and the prosaic: kitchen-sink Caravaggio.
Personally I am thrilled to be playing this part. Excited. Delighted. And scared as fuck.
